Bupenyu Lodge, a spectacular new property perched high above the Batoka Gorge and the Zambezi River, will open its doors on 1 December 2025. This bold, eco-luxury retreat promises a stay where nature, culture, and design come together in breathtaking harmony.

A Dramatic Setting

Located just 28 km from Victoria Falls, Bupenyu Lodge offers unrivalled views of the gorge, with its cliffside architecture designed to blend seamlessly into the surrounding basalt and woodland. The name Bupenyu means “life” in the Nambya language, reflecting the lodge’s commitment to celebrating both people and place.

Suites & Villa Retreats

The lodge features:

11 cliffside suites (52 m²) with private plunge pools, decks, and panoramic views.

One exclusive two-bedroom villa (134 m²) with its own infinity pool, open-plan lounge, and elevated privacy.

Guests also enjoy communal spaces, an infinity pool, a boma inspired by Taita falcon nests, spa pods, and a cliffside bird hide for peaceful wildlife encounters.

Dining Above the Zambezi

Dining at Bupenyu is an experience of its own. Ingredients are sourced from the in-house garden (The Orchard) and crafted into seasonal menus led by acclaimed Chef Chris Erasmus. Meals can be enjoyed at the restaurant, in the open-air boma, or even in-suite with views of the gorge.

A fine wine cellar, curated by Sommelier Marlvin Gwese, completes the dining journey.
